All in my mind

Here is a love poem I wrote recently. I wrote it in Jamaican dialect (patois) so if you need a translation just holler at me. Let me know what you think.

Wake up this morning,
And in the middle of yawning,
I look to mi right,
And in the bed beside mi, mine eyes beheld the sight,
Of mi empress lying there,
And as I stared at her,
She turn to mi an open her eyes,
She smiled,
And that was when the sun rise,
And she reach over and kiss mi.
Tell mi when I gone work
How she going to miss mi,
And it did feel good to know,

I HAVE RETURNED

Ok I know it’s been a while and I have probably been “cussed out” by all my friends. But a lot has been going on in my life and a lot of changes have been made. So I crave your forgiveness for my apparent neglect.

In the last few months I have not had the time to write as I should so I wonder if I am a bit rusty. Or is it one of those things like riding a bike or sex… you never really forget how. A few things have changed but some things are forever the same. You know… like my love for poetry and vintage Jamaican Music. I am going to be featuring some of the best-unsigned bands and talent in Jamaica on this blog also. Not just poets but musicians and I tell you there are some amazing artistes around.

You name it we have it right here on the Rock. I talking about guitarist Seretse Small of Griot Music, Heather “Brown Sugar” Grant, Rock Bands like Gas Money and Neo Soul/ Reggae band Airplai just to name a few. Continue reading »
