My dear friend and fellow blogger, Jamaican Dawta wrote this poem sometime back. It still doesn’t have a title but I think it is a great piece of poetry. This sister can write ! Mi a tell yuh! She doesn’t prize herself as much of a poet but some of us will disagree with her on that. Anyway, enjoy this example of fine Jamaican poetry.

Your words drew me into you,
long before you whispered them
into my heart. They became fingers
that caressed my soul each time we
spoke, making me yearn for you
with such sweet longing, wanting
to feel you on, under, inside my skin.
And in my heart.
Your words took my own, and they
became flesh, fingers that
intertwined like vines, limbs that
tangled, breath that mingled with
breath. Now, one thing remains.
Your heart to be drawn into mine.
