Resistance is Futile- Duane Francis

I can’t help but tingle when our eyes connect,
And holding your hand amplifies the effect.
Roses lean to you, just to catch your scent,
I go weak in the knees so I pray for strength.

rent a car bulgariaAnd my mind tells me “Resistance is futile”

Intoxicated by sweeter than wine, kisses
Now I really know, what true bliss is.
Hoping for love eternal, love unconditional,
A Love so potent it could almost be illegal

And my mind tells me “Resistance is futile”

Now I find myself gushing over you,
Blabbering about you just being you.
I must admit you are my Perfect One,
You have even the most beautiful imperfections.

And my mind tells me “resistance is futile”

At last a blog entry! YAY! Duane! This love poem was written sometime back and I realized i had not posted it on this blog. So for those who have not seen it before. Read and enjoy. Go ahead and relive a time when you had or met someone who had you believing that resistance was indeed a useless operation then.

I know I had one of those when I wrote this poem. I have performed this piece only once and the crowd reaction was awesome. It was one of those spoken word performances that reminded me exactly why I love this stuff so much.

Anyway I have started writing again and the poetry is becoming more fun for me. Look out for more poetry especially podcasts. Afterall I am a spoken word artiste. I have to mention my friend Kathleen over at Diary of a Heretic. She has some great stories you might even find a few Jamaican characters there but there is only one way to find out.

A beautiful poem, Duane. And for some blessed souls, so true that it’s inevitable.

Do you know that Langston Hughes’ poem, “Luck?”
    The last two lines are:

    For some love is given,
    For others only heaven.

“Resistance is Futile” is like that.

btw, thanks for the link. I’ve got my husband thinking we should see Jamaica before too long–with your help. The Right to Write has piqued his interest.
