Here is a love poem I wrote recently. I wrote it in Jamaican dialect (patois) so if you need a translation just holler at me. Let me know what you think.

Wake up this morning,
And in the middle of yawning,
I look to mi right,
And in the bed beside mi, mine eyes beheld the sight,
Of mi empress lying there,
And as I stared at her,
She turn to mi an open her eyes,
She smiled,
And that was when the sun rise,
And she reach over and kiss mi.
Tell mi when I gone work
How she going to miss mi,
And it did feel good to know,
That dis poet was the star in dis show.

And I had her love and she had mine,
Too bad all this is just in mi mind.

At work and di boss a gimme stress,
Then she send me an I love you text.
Big grin pon mi face wondering
what she going to come with next.
Now I can hardly wait to see her later.
Day by day she only get sweeter,
Evening now she waiting for mi with kisses,
With her I know what the meaning of bliss is.
She asks me “how was yuh day”
I say you first baby… was yours okay?
Put you foot in mi lap.
Mek mi massage it while wi gwaan chat,
After dat turn round and mi wi rub yuh back,
and wi have good conversation and wi just click.
We reason from cartoons to politics .
(Which sometimes is really the same thing)

And I had her love and she had mine,
Too bad all this is just in mi mind.

I see the friendship first, relationship next
Sweet loving to make up after we vex
Missing her and her love everyday
Whenever she have to go away.
Loving her cause she is just she,
And she loves me for being me.
Always being confident say mi truly blessed,
With the love of this Nubian empress,
But reality hit me that I was alone,
I guess its true …
without love a house is just not a home.
