I HAVE RETURNED
Ok I know it’s been a while and I have probably been “cussed out” by all my friends. But a lot has been going on in my life and a lot of changes have been made. So I crave your forgiveness for my apparent neglect.
In the last few months I have not had the time to write as I should so I wonder if I am a bit rusty. Or is it one of those things like riding a bike or sex… you never really forget how. A few things have changed but some things are forever the same. You know… like my love for poetry and vintage Jamaican Music. I am going to be featuring some of the best-unsigned bands and talent in Jamaica on this blog also. Not just poets but musicians and I tell you there are some amazing artistes around.
You name it we have it right here on the Rock. I talking about guitarist Seretse Small of Griot Music, Heather “Brown Sugar” Grant, Rock Bands like Gas Money and Neo Soul/ Reggae band Airplai just to name a few.
This is not about main stream Jamaican entertainment but it is (I make no apology for this) the best. The sad thing is that a semi literate buffoon with less than a third grade education can go on stage and bellow out some unintelligible gibberish and make millions of dollars. So he drives a gas guzzling Hummer and chances are he can’t spell HUMMER while the real talent never seems to get the “big break”.
Now don’t get me wrong… there are a few dancehall artistes who really stand out. They put out the really great quality every time. I am not saying they are all bad. But I digress … back to my blog. More features, more entertainment and definitely more poetry for sure. So look out folks because Duane is back!
