I See Hope

So many questions and very few answers
As multiple scandals make front page of the newspaper.
Magician type politicians making public funds disappear
And the wheels of justice seem stuck somewhere.
I turn on the news, more questionable police shootings,
I see babies and women dying from reprisal gang killings.
I hear talk show hosts put down everything they can
To boost their ratings, cause it’s not about care for
their fellow man
I see candles lining sidewalks to celebrate slain gang leaders
And media houses turning these criminals into superheroes

But I see hope for this foul nation to change,
Even though the whole thing seems pre-arranged.
But I see hope
When a ghetto boy refuses to be a dope by dealing dope
Or when the little girl who sees herself as a queen
Refuses to sell her body to fulfill her dreams
I see hope every single day
When good people get on their knees to pray,
With every change making, hard working teacher,
With every genuine righteous, God fearing preacher,
With every community that refuses to protect a don
And I see hope everytime a good deed is done
Because of this hope, I know one day the madness will cease
I know this… because I know that God does not sleep!!

This inspirational poem was written today and tells of hope in what seems to be a hopeless world.
