GRANNY RUBY’S WISDOM FROM THE NOVEL DARE
I am Guyanese-American. I am extremely proud of my heritage, so most of my characters in my writings or films are also Caribbean-American or of African decent. Maya Hope, our heroine in my debut novel DARE is Trinidadian-American. In the novel, she often references her Granny Ruby, who I based on my late Aunt Ruby, who was very influential in my life. Check out Granny Ruby’s wisdom from Dare. Find more at www.daretogetalife.com or www.abiolaabrams.com .
Three of Granny Ruby’s Lessons for Living from Maya in Dare by Abiola Abrams:
1) Whenever in doubt, make room for your ancestors. Nobody came into this world alone, no matter what circumstances might seem like.
2) Sometimes good manners is having bad manners to make others feel comfortable. If you are lucky to live long enough, you’ll know what this means.
3) Granny Ruby’s Spell for Sending an Ex to Hell. Step 1: Create a doll using a cherished object belonging to the target. Step 2: Stick exactly twelve pins in it. Step Three. Shove it into his exhaust pipe or bash him in the face with it.
Heheheheeeee. Of course, we don’t advocate violence…
There you have it a little blog love from Abiola Abrams
