Martial Arts -Poetry in Motion
I have always admired the discipline of the martial arts. I mean the rigid oriental training that would push one top do seemingly superhuman activities. When I was a child because I suffered from asthma , my desire for martial arts training did not go well with my Mom but when she realized I was not interested in anything else she let me go. I think she always worried about me getting hurt. My father on the other hand figured it would toughen me up a bit.(Love them always though) Anyway back to the matter at hand.
Eventually I got my chance to practice the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do. I loved it. I may not practice much anymore but I still love a good martial arts flick. There is nothing more poetic than a classic”Kickas” starring the late great Lee Jun Fan aka Bruce Lee.
The first Bruce Lee movie I ever saw was Chinese Connection, I was amazed. I knew then that I wanted to do what he did.I was amazed at every lightning like punch and every perfectly executed kick . Later I learnt that this guy could do one finger push ups. Now I have never tried that, even though I figure such a skill could come in handy should I need to bore a hole in a coconut.
Today I still love a Bruce Lee flick, from Game of Death to the classic Enter the Dragon. Bruce is always poetry in motion, He is the excellence of execution without a doubt.
Bruce and Poetry
As for Bruce Lee relating to poetry… well this poet hopes to get his work to the stage where it impacts and flows like the techniques of the late martial arts master. WAAAAATAAAAAH!!!
Enjoy this clip from Bruce Lee’s last Movie Enter the Dragon
