Babylon By Bus

For the first time in my life I took public transportation from Kingston to Negril. The journey proved to be an experience I will not soon forget. (Lord knows I will try though) The bus completed the journey in a time that made me wonder if Hollywood was missing a stunt man. So we are traveling up Spur Tree Hill behind a long line of traffic caused by a slow moving truck. Well mek mi tell yuh dis, after the driver of the stunt bus I was in was overcome with impatience, he decided that overtaking the truck would be a good idea. Fortunately I was dressed appropriately in a dark coloured pair of jeans pants so no one would have noticed when I wet myself. But seriously the most amazing thing is that the other folks on the bus did not seem the least bit disturbed by this daredevil effort. One can say that its safer to drive yourself but I seriously debate that, because it means that you will be in the path of the aforementioned stunt driver from hell The advantage however of such a journey is that at the end of it (notice I refuse to use the phrase final destination) you have a new appreciation for life.
WILDE Poetry festival
So I got to Negril visited old friends, sampled lots and lots of free hotel food and drink and of course performed some poetry at the WILDE summer poetry festival in Time Square Negril. Now WILDE is a group of sisters from the UK dedicated to empowering women in literature. (And those of you who know me will know how I love the sisters!!)The poetry was well received and I loved every minute of it. Now my vacation is over and it’s back to work. I wont lie I got some new energy and I am ready to go. So I hope dem nuh badda come stress mi!!
